Amma’s Rava Paniyaram

Rava paniyaram is made on all important occasions in my house. Let it be diwali or a wedding, the day starts by making rava paniyaram and the first three paniyaram should come out in the right color, puffed and not burnt and then it is offered as neivaidhiyam.


Cream of wheat/Semolina/Rava/ Sooji – 1 cup
Sugar – 3 cup
All purpose flour/Maida – 2 cup
Water as required
Oil for frying


Soak the rava in little water for 10 minutes.

Add sugar and flour and mix well.

It should not be watery but a little thick batter.

Spoon the batter in heated oil fry for a minute then turn around and fry for another minute or till it gets a golden color.
