Pattani Paruppu Vada


This Vada is my Hubby’s favorite. I got the recipe from my Sister in law. My hubby and anni were telling stories about how they grew up having the vada on special occasion, whether its for Diwali, Pongal or on a rainy day.

Ingredients:

Yellow split pea/Pattani parrupu – 2cup
Raw rice – 1tbs
Green chillies – 4-6
Onion – 1 chopped
Cilantro/Coriander leaves – 1 bunch
Curry leaves – 1bunch
Salt to taste
Oil for frying

Method:

Soak the yellow split peas and rice for one hour and drain the water.

Grind coarsely the rice, peas along with green chillies. Add salt.

To the mixture add chopped onions, curry leaves, coriander leaves. Mix well.

Make round balls and fry it in oil till it gets golden brown.

Serve with coconut chutney.
