Hello!! Welcome to BlueBottleSky

I’m Aruna. I was born and brought up in small city called Madurai, India which is very famous for its rich Culture, Arts, Language, Temple and Food. It is also called as Thoonga nagaram – city that never sleeps. The women from the city are generally categorized to be very dominative in character. I don’t know whether I’m a dominative person but I know I’m a optimistic, creative person who loves to Travel, Cook, Sketch, Click and Nature. I got married and moved to San Francisco, California. San Francisco famous for its Arts, Culture and Food..!!! I lived in the city for 5 years with my darling husband Jai with a great skyline view from my Balcony. Once We found our family is expanding. We moved to East bay to live close by with friends & family.  I fell in love with San Francisco and hope to move back one day. I have created this blog to share many things that I have experienced & enjoyed and that I feel worth sharing with others.

“This is my invariable advice to people: Learn how to cook- try new recipes, learn from your mistakes, be fearless, and above all have fun!”
― Julia child

I always had a passion for cooking. I still remember I was in grade four when I started cooking. It looks like yesterday but its already been more than two decades but still my passion to learn different styles of food & cooking from different cuisine around the world had increased. Living in San Francisco and enjoying each and every delicious bite from countless cuisines had inspired me more on food & cooking.. My day never ends before I try a new recipe from my Mom’s recipe book, Blogs, Cooking shows, Restaurants or Recipe cut outs from the sunday newspaper. This blog is my collection of recipes from all the beautiful people like Mum, Grand mum, Aunt & Friends.

It pleases me to take amateur photographs of my garden, and it pleases my garden to make my photographs look professional. ~Robert Brault

I’m not a professional photographer just an amateur photographer with a passion for visual art, color and lines. I take pictures to accompany my stories. I started with a canon point and shoot, later upgraded to DSLR. I bought a canonT1i and invested in a good portrait lens which has good depth of field also makes my amateur photographs looks more professional. Currently I’m experimenting with my kit lens, Portrait lens and some cheap wide angle & macro. Someday in the future I’ll upgrade to a good wide angle & macro lens and definitely a 5D or 1D.

I’ve been crafty my whole life. After my college, My best friend & I started a small home based business where we created our Clay pots, Pencil holders painted them black with white tribal motif and sold them. We got orders for goodie bags for popular events and companies. Wow!!!! What a happiness??? 🙂 🙂 I always feel its nice to create something with hand from heart. I love the DIY projects and crafts.

The only classes which interested me during my college days are the Engineering drawing, where I learnt about different angles and sketching classes – where I learnt about color theory, light, tones and contrast. It was so much fun to play around with color pencils. I bought a huge book with a title Mastering the art of Painting and started learning different styles, strokes of painting. This year I promised myself I’m gonna learn new techniques and styles.

Nature & Garden

I have a small garden in my balcony. I bought some herbs from wednesday Farmers market and transferred them to the small Ikea Clay pots and love to take few rosemary leaves from my garden and add to my burger patties.

Travel, Food & Restaurant

I love traveling and exploring new places, people and food. so here I post and share about my travel , the people I met and the review of the food and restaurant I visited. I’m not a professional critic or a cook to rate or review a restaurant or chef its just the best food I ever tasted. Most of my posts about restaurants will be in and around San Francisco Bay area.

Thanks for going through the long list of my likes. It is a little random but I like talking about many aspects of my life and I know its long and you had loads of patience to read 🙂 🙂 Once again Thanks for visiting my blog and
I love hearing from my visitors, so don’t be shy..!!! Please leave comments and feedbacks are always welcome.
